Design Studio

SaaS
Project Overview
DealerOn noticed the massive amount of time their users were wasting on designing creative assets for advertising. With my team at TangoCode, I produced an automated SaaS tool that allows users without any design experience to create captivating assets within minutes.

My Contributions
My Role: Product Designer
Team: PO, Developers, QA Engineer, Client

I worked closely with DealerOn's Design & Product team to understand their current workflow, the requirements necessary for the success of this product, and how we could bridge the gap between non-designers and pixel-perfect images. I was the sole designer on Design Studio from inception to launch.
Challenge:
DealerOn noticed that a lot of their clients were wasting too much time redesigning their ads. They wanted to give their users (none of whom are designers or photoshop savvy) a tool that allows them to change designs quicker and more easily while maintaining dealership compliances rules.

Actions:
A SaaS Design Editor (AKA Design Studio) was created from scratch tailored to the needs of DealerOn after a Buy vs Build assessment was complete.

Results: Non-designers have created thousands of new designs and templates. The next step is to put this amazing product in the hands of dealerships.
Design Studio
Product Designer
Aug 2021 — Feb 2024
This product was one of the most complicated that I've worked on in my career. The flow had many steps and involved a variety of integrations that meant constant iteration and research of similar products, as well as extended user testing with DealerOn's design team. Ultimately, we needed to create a product whose ease of use was such that it would be easily adopted into their current workflow.

In order to create the templates necessary for non-designers to create compliant designs, we needed to find a way to upload the PSD files into Design Studio, categorize them accordingly so that they would be easily searchable, and organize all the layers of the files so that they correspond with the correct fields (Header, Background, CTA, etc.)
Process
Once the templates were created, the next big push was creating the actual Editor. This product required a lot of features, including uploading and resizing images, adding shapes, uploading fonts, bulk actions, layers panel, etc. We also needed to allow a variety of export options, in different formats, resolutions and sizes.
Editor
Once the main editor features were taken care of, we moved on to other ways that we could make this product even easier for users to remain compliant to brand requirements. We decided to create a Brand Library feature, where designers can upload images, fonts, logos, etc. that are all brand compliant, so that non-designers creating new designs could be kept within the guidelines.
