JOLO

iOS & Android Mobile App
Project Overview
The job search is broken - for both candidates and recruiters. Jolo is here to fix that. It's a mobile app focused on matching candidates and employers based on skills and values.
My Contributions
My Role: Product Designer
Team: PO, Developers, QA Engineer, Client

I worked on this project from inception to development, employing a variety of techniques, such as competitive analysis, user research and rapid prototyping to bring it to the app store and google play.
Challenge:
Searching for a job can be a daunting and often frustrating experience, fraught with numerous pain points. Firstly, the sheer volume of job listings inundates job seekers, making it difficult to sift through relevant opportunities. Tailoring resumes and cover letters for each application is time-consuming, compounded by the lack of feedback from many employers, leaving candidates in a state of uncertainty. How can we give some power back to candidates, while alleviating pressure on these pain points?

Actions:
Create a skills and values based platform that matches candidates to jobs suited to their preferences and strengths. No resume or cover letters neccesary - just create a profile, and swipe for jobs that you like. If you match with that job, a recruiter will reach out via the in-app chat to talk further.

Results:
After many rounds of user testing and iterations, the first version of the mobile app has been released on both iOS App Store and Google Play. There are many more features currently in the works, but we wanted to get an MVP to market and hit the ground running.

One of the main differentiators for JOLO was the card view and swiping function, as well as its mobile-first offering. This more casual approach is meant to assuage the fatigue of sorting through tons of job listings and having to tailor applications to each one. We spent quite a bit of time on the card view to make sure that the app built trust in users by displaying the most pertinent information.

Following the workshop, we created a clickable prototype and conducted user testing with both candidates and recruiters to ensure that the flows were intuitive and that the information provided was enough on both ends for candidates and recruiters to make confident decisions regarding their interest in the role/candidate.

We brought this invaluable information with us and used it as the foundation for the many sprints of development that followed, continuing to test and adapt as needed along the way.
Development
Jolo was launched in the App Store and Google Play in 2024 and has continued to gain traction since the debut. We are working on V2 enhancements and on a desktop app for the recruiter end of the product to make and manage your job listings even easier.
